FLS Transportation is actively seeking a Carrier Procurement Coordinator in their Chicago, IL branch.


Responsibilities include:

  • Negotiate with carriers to maximize profitability and improve efficiency by identifying ways to improve cost savings;
  • Schedule/Coordinate truck shipments and addressing any issues that come up during transit;
  • Audit and correct carrier freight invoices and BOLs as necessary for payment;
  • Dispatch drivers on each load with the responsibility to ensure drivers arrive to pick up without issues;
  • Perform daily sourcing activities, including targeting new carriers, negotiating and developing carrier rates, and sourcing and selecting the most efficient carriers;
  • Develop and maintain effective Carrier relationships with FLS Core Carriers to include proper carrier capability profiling calls/day minimum);
  • Maintain carrier database by keeping pricing and contact information current;
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively with attention to detail
  • Ability to negotiate on both a transactional and contractual basis with market relevancy
  • Ability to mandate carrier corrective action plans where necessary

Requirements:


  • Minimum 3 years of 3PL experience, with emphasis on Canadian Cross-Border market
  • Experience with multiple modes to foster the company's service offerings
  • Demonstrated ability to stay current and accurately interpret industry trends;
  • A true passion for sales and logistics must be a selfstarter, selfdirected, and highly motivated;
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines;
  • Excellent customer service, communication and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and data entry systems);
  • Ability to positively influence culture and behavior and work effectively with all levels within the company;
