    Description

    Purpose: The Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, directing, scheduling and the overall administration of all Nursing Services in accordance with Federal, State and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility.

    Reports to: Director of Nursing Services (DNS)

    Essential Job Duties: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     1. Supervises direct nursing care.
    2. Administers direct care as needed.
    3. May assist RNM (Registered Nurse Manager) in their job duties as needed.
    4. Makes routine rounds to assure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment.
    5. Assures accuracy and completeness of medical records.
    6. Supervises nursing personnel on all shifts. Participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation of nursing staff.
    7. Assists with professional development of the nursing staff, monitor and evaluate the staff and make recommendations for training.
    8. Provides specific orientation to Health Center nursing staff.
    9. Assists with ensuring annual competency evaluations and performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
    10. Responsible for following and investigating facility infections, the surveillance of facility infections, antibiotic surveillance and managing of isolation practices in the facility.
    11. Responsible for tracking and trending infections of staff, volunteers and visitors.
    12. Responsible for education related to Infection Control Program.
    13. Participates in QAPI for Infection Preventionist role.
    14. Participates in family/resident counseling.
    15. Responds to emergency calls as necessary.
    16. Functions in the capacity of Director of Nursing in his/her absence.
    17. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by Director of Nursing.
    Qualifications

    Educational and Experience Requirements:
    1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing education.
    2. Possess a current, unencumbered RN license recognized by the State of Oregon.
    3. Current BLS CPR certification preferred.
    4. Educational requirements for Infection Preventionist per CMS requirements.
    5. Experienced in the care of the geriatric resident as evidenced by previous work experience.
    6. Proven ability to communicate effectively to staff, residents, families, etc.
    Other Requirements:

    1. Has a good working knowledge of State and Federal rules and regulations.

    2. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and organize work and care efficiently.

    3. Demonstrated ability in supervising and training nursing team members.

    4. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

    5. Has ability to interact with residents, staff members, families and other guests in a professional manner.
