The Office is comprised of six disciplinary clusters, each headed by a Cluster Research Administrator directing a team of pre
- and post-award specialists.
Job Overview
The Business Intelligence Analyst (BIA) supports the clusters across JORA with reporting, analysis and deriving actionable insight from various internal systems and data sources.
They also collect business intelligence data from systems, such as GU-Pass, GMS and NIH Reporter, and then develop executive level reports to inform senior leaders on the trends.
They design data reporting of key metrics, to develop reports and communicate the status of the enterprise research administration; enhance and improve business processes; and set the strategic research goals of the enterprise.
As well, they develop dashboards to ensure an efficient collection of these trends and manage recurring report schedules; and triage incoming requests and process the requests in an efficient manner.
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation
Reporting to the Senior Director, JORA, the Business Intelligence Analyst works closely with other staff members within JORA, and senior leaders across the enterprise to develop reports and analysis for research administration trends.
They also provide senior leadership within JORA and interacts often with the Director, Dean for Research and the Vice Provost of Research.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or Engineering
- 4 to 7 years of experience analyzing data and creating datadriven visualizations
- Experience using programming languages, such as Python, R or SQL
- Extensive knowledge and skill in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Industry knowledge of BI landscape and latest emerging tools supporting descriptive to perspective analytics
- Experience using scripting languages to conduct and automate common data analysis tasks for exploration, conditioning or advanced analytics
- Experience manipulating data from multiple structured and unstructured data sources
- Experience with contributing to or collaborating on analytics products using version control systems, such as GitHub or GitLab
- Capacity for managing an extremely high volume of proposals and juggling multiple deadlines at once
- Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills
- Familiarity with Workday and/or Tableau
- Experience in an academic research administration, federal or nonprofit environment
