Asphalt Green is searching for an experienced Security Supervisor to join our team overseeing two campuses in Manhattan - the Upper East Side (5.5 acres, two buildings, and multiple outdoor public spaces) and Battery Park City in Lower Manhattan (all indoor space). We are a non-profit organization dedicated to sports, fitness, and play, offering a variety of programs, classes, and camps for individuals of all ages. Our facilities are bustling with members, guests, and program participants every single day. The Security Supervisor will be responsible for managing daily operations, including supervising a team of 12 contracted security personnel.
The Security Supervisor will coordinate the daily schedules of guards at both locations to ensure they are fulfilling their responsibilities effectively.
NOTE:
This role will be primarily stationed at the Upper East Side campus, with flexibility to move between sites as necessary. Weekend and evening coverage are required throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform regular patrols to ensure security officers are in proper uniform and carrying out assigned duties during all operating hours.
- Provide guidance to security officers on job requirements and monitor activities to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Conduct property patrols, report fire safety concerns, inspect security systems, identify unauthorized individuals, and engage with staff on security matters.
- Maintain detailed daily records and file comprehensive incident reports.
- Take action in response to security incidents as they arise.
- Generate reports on shift activities, incidents, and performance statistics, exercising sound judgment in decision-making and effective communication with security and other departments.
- Inspect department equipment at the start of each shift to confirm functionality, including computers, radios, keys, and other necessary security tools.
- Step in for the Director of Safety and Security when needed.
- Coordinate additional security coverage for special events like summer camps and weekend programs under the direction of the Security Director.
- Carry out any other assigned duties.
- Possess at least 3 years of experience in physical security roles, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
- Hold a valid New York State Security Guard license.
- Maintain Basic Life Support certifications, including CPR and AED, or be willing to acquire them.
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
- Have basic proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and computer operations.
- Prior experience in Law Enforcement or the Military is advantageous.
- Possess fire safety certifications like F01 or F89 (a plus).
