JOB SUMMARY
***: Works independently to ensure level production schedules. Interprets and analyzes customer requests and capacity issues including availability of workforce, machines, time, and materials. Analyzes, develops, and monitors short-range customer sales and production forecasts. Develops all production schedules respective to job. Maintains production schedules and coordinates all necessary processes with corresponding departments. Measures actual progress based on customer requirements and reports significant deviations. Identifies, establishes, and maintains appropriate inventory levels. Monitors supplier delivery schedules to ensure material coverage in support of production schedules. Contacts suppliers and initiates corrective actions as required. Participates in continuous improvement processes and champions programs to improve cost, quality, and delivery. Performs other duties as required which may involve providing work direction and/or supervision to other staff. After hours and weekend work may be required.


KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:


The duties listed below will be performed at both levels within the progression with increasing independence and emphasis on unique situations and program development.

At
level I, work is standard, of moderate difficulty, and performed under general supervision. Work involves independent decision making with guidance furnished on unusual matters. Assumes responsibility for level production in respective area. At
level II, work is performed under mínimal supervision and work direction.

Functioning as a highly competent resource planner, work requires a higher degree of judgment and independent decision making involving more complex issues.

Provides training, guidance, and work direction to level I resource planners and motivates team toward departmental goals and objectives. Assumes sole responsibility for level production and other job-related activities.

  • Ensures level production schedules based on customer requirements, management goals and objectives, availability of materials, capacity of equipment, etc. Contends with an uneven customer demand and adjusts production schedules to secure a stable, consistent level. Assumes sole responsibility for authorizing/releasing all materials used in respective manufacturing area.
  • Interprets and analyzes customer requests and capacity issues. Analyzes and develops shortrange customer sales and production forecasts and provides input for longrange forecasts. Maintains all production schedules by ensuring proper utilization of resources (machines, time, people, and materials) including recommending appropriate levels of production staff and overtime. Develops all production schedules within area of responsibility using all applicable internal and external information. Coordinates all necessary processes with Receiving, Quality, Engineering, Finance and Customer Service Departments.
  • Based on customer requirements, monitors, and measures actual progress in meeting all production forecast and schedule requirements. Reports significant deviations.
  • Identifies, establishes, maintains, and monitors appropriate inventory levels to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Coordinates engineering change orders, phase in of new products, and discontinuation of old products while minimizing obsolete inventory. Monitors inventory records for respective area and ensures corrective action as needed.
  • Monitors supplier delivery schedules to ensure material coverage in support of production schedules. Contacts suppliers and initiates corrective actions as required. Introduces and implements JIT techniques to manufacturing in support of business objectives.
  • Participates in continuous improvement processes, individually and with teams, and champions projects to improve cost, quality, and delivery. Researches and recommends current material control management practices and implements appropriate changes as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required. Serves as the Materials Department representative on new program teams as directed, and reports changes to affected work team members. May supervise and/or provide work direction to other staff.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Level I

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field including oneyear experience in materials or related field; or equivalent. Experience in the automotive industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in order to perform job duties in an appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrated high degree of problemsolving ability. Ability to independently analyze data and determine appropriate course of action.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and changing priorities.
