Cake & Cookie Decorator


VG Donut & Bakery located in Cardiff-by-the-Sea is hiring a
FULL-TIME cake and cookie decorator with a solid foundation in buttercream cake design and royal icing cookie décor to join our talented decorator team.

The decorator team is responsible for final prep and production of a large volume of desserts and decorating custom cakes, wedding cakes, sugar cookies and cupcakes.

All baking is handled by baking team.

Experience required. Position requires both Saturday and Sunday availability.


Best known for delicious donuts, VGs also offers cakes for all occasions, including weddings, and a large variety of pastries, cookies, bread, and desserts.

A locals' favorite since 1969, VGs is consistently ranked among San Diego's best bakeries.


Job responsibilities include:


  • Willingness to learn and rotate through any decorator work task throughout scheduled shift, from setting up bakery dessert cases to custom wedding cake decoration
  • Learn and accurately use VG bakery methods and recipes for the final production of all bakery desserts including cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, brownies and bars, dessert pastries, pies and more
  • Follow verbal and written instructions, formulas, and schedules to produce consistent results every time
  • The decoration of both standard bakery dessert items and custom orders
  • Must be able to accurately execute customer orders, including following design instructions and matching color references
  • Familiarity and competent use of professional decorator equipment, including air spray and projector machines
  • Excellent timemanagement skills
  • Strictly adhere to food safety and sanitization practices
  • Thoroughly clean workstations and equipment

Job requirements:


  • Minimum 2 years cake decorating experience in a
    commercial kitchen preferred but will consider applicants with less experience based on talent
  • Must be able to work both Saturdays and Sundays
  • Committed to quality and consistency
  • Reliable and punctual with regular attendance
  • Physical requirements include, frequent walking, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching overhead and ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 lbs. throughout shift daily and push/pull up to 100 pounds
  • You must have legal working status in the U.S.
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Maintain clean and neat appearance in compliance with our dress code policy

Compensation, benefits & perks:


  • Base pay ranges $18 $22 per hour, depending on experience
