    Description

    Job Title: Senior Level Machinist at Bowhead

    Bowhead is looking for an experienced Machinist to join their team and support the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG).


    Responsibilities:

    • Read technical drawings and sketches, independently set up machine tools, prepare materials, fabricate components, clean and assemble items as needed.
    • Generate machine codes to operate CNC mills and lathes.
    • Set up and run various machining tools including fourth axis units, manual mills, lathes, drill presses, and grinders.
    • Conduct manual prototype work and program Mazak machine mills and lathes accurately.
    • Manufacture tooling, jigs, fixtures, and perform cylindrical grinding without direct supervision.
    • Work with close tolerances and fabricate specialized tooling for unique operations.
    • Construct components, troubleshoot malfunctions, and provide recommendations for process improvements.
    • Give guidance to Engineers and other Machinists on machining principles and operations.

    Qualifications:

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Experience operating and maintaining conventional lathes and machinery.
    • Proficiency in SolidCAM Software for programming test items.
    • Basic to Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite.
    • Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
    • Must hold certification/license to operate Bowhead and Government vehicles.

    Physical Demands:

    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
    • Stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Twist, bend, and squat periodically.

    Security Clearance Requirements:

    • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance.
    • US Citizenship required for Secret clearance at this location.
