Primary Purpose of this position:
To deliver successful, profitable projects.
Specific Job Duties:
- Provides leadership and support for the corporate safety program.
- Reviews contract documents to ascertain the scope of our work and any unique aspects of each particular assigned project.
- Sets up project files, schedules preconstruction meetings, communicates project scope and schedule to all stakeholders. Distributes project information and construction documents to vendors, subcontractors, field and shops.
- Maintains scheduling deadlines.
- Participates in continuous department process improvement objectives to develop improved procedures and practices.
- Processes submittals and expedites long lead items to facilitate project workflow.
- Provides work direction, resolves problems, prepares schedules and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of assigned projects.
- Attends and/or leads project planning, coordination, progress and closeout meetings as required.
- Coordinates activities of department with related activities of other departments to ensure efficiency and economy.
- Ensures completion of all punch list items, submits project closeout documentation and administers project turnover to the Owner.
- Administers warranty issues during the warranty period.
- Maintains cost controls.
- Prepares project cost projections and profitability forecasts.
- Reviews and approves vendor invoicing; reviews, approves and administers subcontractor invoicing and performance.
- Prepares monthly progress invoicing for projects to ensure positive cash flow.
- Identifies conditions and/or events that affect our scope of work and profitability. Documents, prices and implements resulting change orders.
Formal education, certifications and/or experience required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical/Mechanical Technology or demonstrated experience that equals an engineering degree such as experience in the field with good working knowledge of commercial construction.
- Successful completion of our corporate project management orientation and mentorship process, or demonstrated equal experience.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to visit job/project sites and company representatives to review progress and scope of work
- Ability to climb stairs/ladders to access job/project site areas as needed
Other requirements:
- Punctual and regular attendance
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
- Team player and positive change practitioner
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret request for proposals
- Ability to interact and clearly communicate with customers (both internal and external) in verbal and written format
- Ability to implement instructions furnished in a written or oral format
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet the company driver qualification policy
- Ability to work on a team and interact with people
