    Director of Engineering

    About the Role: Gecko Hospitality is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to join an upscale boutique hotel property in Fort Lauderdale. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering and maintenance within the hospitality industry, coupled with exceptional leadership and project management abilities.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the daily operations of the engineering and maintenance department
    • Ensure all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical, are functioning efficiently and effectively
    • Lead and manage a team of engineers and maintenance staff, providing guidance and support
    • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and safety of hotel facilities
    • Coordinate with other departments to address maintenance needs and ensure seamless guest experiences
    • Manage budgets, inventory, and financial reports for the engineering department
    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards
    • Conduct regular inspections of property grounds, facilities, and equipment to identify and address any issues
    • Oversee capital improvement projects and renovations, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget

    Qualifications:

    • Proven experience as a Director of Engineering or similar role in the hospitality industry
    • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills
    • Strong project management abilities, with experience overseeing capital improvement projects
    • Financial acumen and experience with budget management
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
