PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Receives formal and on the job training to job specific skills and tasks as they relate to Overhead Electric Transmission Construction and Maintenance activities to include overhead transmission cellular and microwave work.

Learns principles of basic electricity theory and utility infrastructure, rigging and hoisting, use and care of tools, safety equipment, safety rules and practices.

Operates power tools and heavy equipment used in electric transmission line construction. Learns how to interpret construction drawings and standards. Works from towers, steel and wood poles, to include microwave towers over 200 feet in height.

Works from man lifts, platforms and bucket trucks at varying heights (some over 200 feet) in proximity to energized electrical circuits.

Performs other job duties as assigned.

Note:
Required to work during storm and emergency situations, including distribution restoration. Must be available for on-call coverage and overtime. Works in all weather conditions.
