Buyer/Tool Crib Associate Job Description:
Summary:
Buyer/Tool Crib Associate would be responsible to source and purchase materials for supporting the domestic manufacturing facilities. Materials will include MRO supplies (maintenance/repair/operations), freight, capital equipment, and corporate services.
Responsibilities:
- Source new materials as requested by Operations/R&D/Marketing/Engineering.
- Consolidate and optimize purchasing of MRO supplies.
- Source and negotiate FTL/LTL/Intermodal freight contracts.
- Initiate request for quotes and supply agreements, where applicable, for items not already covered under purchasing agreements.
- Work with suppliers to find new and innovative methods to reduce costs and lead times
- Maintain regular contact with key suppliers to build and maintain relationships.
- Work collaboratively to improve existing purchasing policies and procedures
- Other purchasing duties as assigned.
- Receive, store, and issue all hand tools, machine tools. dies. materials, and equipment to staff.
- Assist in requesting stock to replenish inventory as needed.
- Tool inspection and inventory, tool check in and out, tool marketing and cleaning, monitoring, and scheduling equipment calibration.
- Maintaining and controlling spare or broken tools, supply issue/turn in and other duties as necessary.
Job Requirements:
- Postsecondary education
- A minimum of 2 years of purchasing and negotiating experience
- APICS, PMAC or SCMA certification is an asset
- Skilled with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience working with ERP systems
- Highly organized with a very strong analytical and attention to detail mindset
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and able to work with a diverse group of people
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
