    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Virginia Territory Manager is tasked with finding opportunities with customers, responding to customer inquiries and is called upon when customers need support and training.

    This person works in a highly-collaborative environment with other internal resources and external partners — FPG inside and outside sales and support staff and our represented manufacturers, most notably Badger Meter — to meet the needs of water & wastewater utility customers.

    The core products are the industry leading Badger Meter flow meters, their associated automated meter reading (AMR) and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) data collection and management technologies (BEACON), leak detection and water analytics products for a wide range of parameters — including temperature, pressure, turbidity, BOD, COD, TOC, DOC, pH, turbidity, free chlorine, et al — from Syrinix, s::can, ATi and Telog (also Badger Meter brands) and a variety of supporting product lines.

    This position reports to the FPG Water Division Sales Team Lead.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Foremost, develop profitable customer relationships for the Virginia water and wastewater market in a team-based sales role.
    • Meet with existing customers to maintain accounts. There is a high degree of customer maintenance in this role. Regular orders are placed by customers. A large percentage of the salesperson's time is spent educating customers on new products, technical system improvements, lead times, and on-site training.
    • Meet new prospects to educate them as to how their operations can be improved using Badger Meter flow meters, data collection systems and water quality products.
    • Extensive interaction with other team members and Badger Meter partners.
    • Provide well-considered technical solutions in response to customer inquiries.
    • Develop a high level of product and application knowledge through a combination of training and hands-on experience. This requires a high degree of personal commitment.
    • Identify and pursue sales opportunities in coordination with inside sales and factory support resources. There will be extensive and regular interaction with other team members and Badger Meter partners.
    • Support team in executing and achieving the company's territory and market business plans.
    • Discover and champion customer-centric value-add opportunities that will differentiate FPG in the market and advance the overriding sales goals.
    • Various internal reporting in support of the above responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • PRIORITY WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WITHIN THE WATER INDUSTRY, such as water utility operators, water meter install technicians, et al.
    • MUST be a motivated, self-starter with a passion for learning and helping others as part of a Team environment
    • We are looking for individuals who can hit the ground running and, preferably, know the Virginia water utility market.
    • Technical degree or a relevant technical background translatable to our product offerings — exposure to both mechanical, electrical and software systems will be important to gain credibility with customers.
    • History of personal accountability and accomplishment in this capacity.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
    • Available for regular in-territory (Virginia) travel to visit customers (3-4 days/week)
    • Participate in marketing work associated with campaigns for Virginia utility customers.
    • Infrequent travel to the FPG main office (Indiana) and factories (Badger Meter in Wisconsin) for training and trade shows. Badger Meter sales events are held semi-annually.
    • Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, et al tools are used extensively. Will expect familiarity with a CRM system, as this is of primary importance in the daily function of the role. Basic training in our other computing systems for expense management, quotation generation, etc... will be provided.
    • This role requires a significant amount of driving to meet with customers frequently. Therefore, a reliable and presentable car is required. (Mileage is paid on a plan based upon the current IRS reimbursement rate.)
