Development Permit Specialist - Reno, United States - City of Reno
Description
Building Permit Technician
This job position involves reviewing building permit applications for completeness and compliance with established guidelines, providing assistance to the public regarding building permits, and performing various clerical tasks. The role also includes supporting Development Permit Technicians and handling technical tasks.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This position is the advanced journey level in the Permit Services series. It involves assuming higher levels of responsibility and overseeing the work of lower-level staff.
Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have knowledge of building permit review methods, urban planning practices, and customer service principles, among others. Additionally, they should be able to lead staff, review permit applications, and communicate effectively.
Education and Experience Guidelines
An ideal candidate should have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least three years of related experience in building permit reviews. Possession of an ICC Permit Technician Certificate is also required.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
The job is mainly performed in a standard office environment with frequent public interactions. Physical requirements include the ability to work in an office setting, occasional bending and lifting, and operating office equipment.
