    Comprised of the Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Berklee NYC, Berklee Abu Dhabi, Berklee Valencia, and the Division of Pre-College, Online and Professional Programs, Berklee is a preeminent institution of contemporary music, theater, and dance, offering degree granting programs in Boston, New York City, and Valencia, Spain, and through Berklee Online.     The Professional Education Division is one of four academic divisions at Berklee College of Music. It is comprised of five departments: Music Business/Management, Music Education, Music Therapy, Professional Music, and Liberal Arts & Sciences; and multiple institutes: Berklee Popular Music Institute (BPMI), Berklee Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship (ICE), Berklee Music and Health Institute, and the Berklee Institute for Accessible Arts Education (BIAAE). Additionally, it includes the Center for Music Therapy at Berklee, the Assistive Technology Lab for Blind and Visually Impaired Students, and the Berklee Center for Liberal Arts Tutoring.

    The Dean of Professional Education Division functions as part of the Academic Affairs Senior Leadership and reports to the Vice President/Executive Director of the college. The Dean will be a forward thinking, accomplished professional who will lead the division in areas of curriculum design and development, faculty and staff hiring, uses of technology, scholarship, and pedagogy and instruction.

    The Dean supports the mission of Berklee in creating a rich and multidimensional student experience that gives artists and music professionals the skills and competencies they need in music and in life.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Serves as the chief advocate and administrator for the division providing leadership and strategic direction. Develops and sets short and long-range goals for the division.
    • Navigates in a complex academic setting, and builds relationships with partners inside the college, as well as locally, nationally, and internationally in order to achieve results.
    • Leads and fosters institutional and inter-divisional collaborations and also provides oversight of specialized accreditations within the division.
    • Oversees curriculum design and development within the division to ensure courseware aligns with the Berklee's diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging strategies while preparing students to successfully thrive in an ever-evolving performing arts industry.
    • Manages the oversight and preparation of the division budget while providing sound fiscal stewardship
    • Responsible for the hiring, supervision and evaluations of Division personnel including Chairs, Assistant Chairs, Institute Directors, Staff, and Faculty
    MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Strong candidates will be forward-thinking and accomplished professionals with an advanced degree(s), masters or doctorate preferred, in education management, music and/or a discipline related to those of the institution.
    • Demonstrated experience in leadership, evaluation, and planning in higher education, as well as understanding of the culture and uniqueness of the music, entertainment and performing arts industries.
    • Possess excellent and inspirational leadership skills needed to engage multi-disciplinary teams with a capacity to drive transformational learning environments
    • Possess deep experience in financial, organizational and people management in a multi-level higher education environment; experience in a unionized environment is strongly preferred
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity in individuals, perspectives, teaching/learning styles, and curriculum development.
    • Possess outstanding communication, interpersonal, and consensus-building skills, and capability to work collaboratively and collegially with a wide variety of constituents across all Berklee learning environments.
    • Experienced in curriculum design and development grounded in the present-day needs of students and a swiftly changing industry environment
