    JLS Automation is currently accepting candidates for a Systems Engineer position for our corporate office in York, PA. The Systems Engineer will work with a leader in primary and secondary packaging machinery for the food manufacturing industry using cutting-edge robotics technology.     Systems Engineer Job Objective

    The Systems Engineer is the primary engineering resource for one or more concurrent JLS system jobs. Duties include interdepartmental leadership of other project team members and technical review of all engineering disciplines. This position is responsible for the technical outcome of a project and requires competent leadership. Engineering tasks often include the configuration of robots and vision systems, CAD design, and specification of vendor-supplied equipment. Documentation of work done on each job is the responsibility of the engineer on each job. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Systems Engineering Manager.

    Systems Engineer Job Duties and Responsibilities

    · Overall responsibility for the technical project execution;

    · Writes the scope of work and the design workbook for the project;

    · Conceptually designs automation and motion control and robotic solutions to meet the expectations of the customer order;

    · Performs internal design reviews with all project disciplines including the filing of process milestone documentation;

    · Delegates, mentors, and directs Commissioning Engineers and Associate System Engineers;

    · Works with the project manager to ensure an overall great customer experience;

    · Gives technical guidance to design, controls, and software engineering;

    · Configures and assists in the setup of the robotic program and vision systems;

    · Provides equipment startup supervision or assistance at JLS and customer site;

    · Coordinates and leads technical meetings between JLS and customer or vendor;

    · Collaborates with a customer on an approach to a problem;

    · Supports meeting project deadlines and project budget estimates;

    · Advises customers as a technical expert before and after the sale;

    · Supports the creation of drawings, documentation packages, and user manuals;

    · Works with the purchasing department to acquire material necessary to complete projects;

    · Responsible for approving purchase requisitions as applicable;

    · Other duties as assigned.

    Systems Engineer Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    · 4-year college degree majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience;

    · 4+ years of technical/professional training in similar roles;

    · Required to control costs, adhere to a schedule, and improve the quality of a product/service;

    · Ability to prioritize when tasked with multiple projects at the same time;

    · Capability to work mostly independently is required;

    · Leadership qualities to coordinate team activities and be a team leader of a group consisting of 2-5 other employees;

    · Capital equipment design knowledge, as well as experience in the food packaging industry, is preferred;

    · Experience with systems projects is preferred;

    · A basic understanding of safety standards and knowledge of sanitary standards is preferred;

    · Ability to specify auxiliary equipment preferred;

    · Knowledge of project management, motion control, robotics, vision systems, and automation is preferred;

    · Basic knowledge of SolidWorks or similar 3D software is required;

    · Computer skills are required at an advanced level;

    · Capability to generate solutions for problems, develop operating procedures, and influence other employees' work is required;

    · Must be able to travel up to 25%;

    · Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
