Maison de la Luz is seeking a part-time Porter
Guest house, Maison de la Luz, is one of New Orleans' newest small luxury hotels. Located in the Warehouse District, our historic property is a private sanctuary with 67 resplendent suites feeling much more residential and intimate. It occupies a six-story building built in 1908 as a city hall annex. Atelier Ace partnered with Pamela Shamshiri of L.A.-based Studio Shamshiri to design a distinctive new guest house featuring high-finish details including colorful marble floors, French wallpaper, luxury bedding and toiletries. Maison de la Luz is supported by exceptional service and care from our compassionate and discreet staff.
We are seeking motivated, eager, experienced staff to join our focused team. Applicants must have relevant experience, a sense of urgency, and a great attitude. SUMMARY
The porter is responsible for assisting guests with luggage, escorting guests to rooms and giving property and room orientations, storing and retrieving luggage, delivering packages and other items in the property, providing directions and maintaining property entrance and lobby. The porter works closely with the Front Desk staff to coordinate assistance to guests.
CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greet guests and inform them of property amenities, services, and hours of operation, and local areas of interest and activities.
- Open doors and assist guests/visitors entering and leaving property.
- Assist with luggage storage and retrieval.
- Transport guest luggage to and from guest rooms and/or designated bell area.
- Assist guests/visitors in and out of vehicles, including assisting guests with loading/unloading luggage.
- Supply guests with directions.
- Arrange transportation (e.g., taxi cab, shuttle bus) for guests/visitors, and record advance transportation request as needed.
- Dispatch bell staff or valet staff as needed.
- Communicate parking procedures to guests/visitors.
- Follow up with guests to ensure their requests or problems have been met to their satisfaction.
- Serve as a departmental role model, and assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating and coaching employees.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
- Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications.
- Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Individual should be high school graduate and/or any have combination of experiences that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to effectively fulfill the requirements of this job description.

Candidate must meet the following cognitive abilities:
- Ability to understand guests' service needs & requests.
- Ability to acknowledge guests' requests in a polite manner.
- Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written English (additional foreign languages are encouraged and preferred).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical hotel environment. Physical aspects include but are not limited to the following:
