Position Overview
Performs tasks involving physical labor at building construction projects. May operate a variety of hand and power tools.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assessing the condition of the drywall surfaces and preparing them for finishing work. This may involve repairing any damages, smoothing rough areas, and ensuring the surface is clean and free of debris.
  • Sanding the dried joint compound to achieve a smooth and uniform surface. This step is essential for achieving a professional finish and may require attention to detail to ensure consistency across the entire wall or ceiling.
  • Inspecting finished surfaces for imperfections, such as bumps, ridges, or uneven areas, and making necessary touchups or repairs to achieve a flawless finish.
  • Adhering to safety regulations and guidelines while performing duties, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of tools and materials.
  • Assessing surfaces to be painted, including walls, ceilings, trim, and other structures, and preparing them for painting. This may involve cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming surfaces to ensure a smooth and uniform finish.

Education and Training

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Atleast 3 to 4 years of construction experience.
  • Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Some knowledge of the proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy construction work.
  • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to meet punctuality and attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
