Position InformationNew Hanover Countyis seeking an experienced paralegal assigned to contract management in theOffice of the County Attorney.

The primary responsibilities for this role include serving as the initial point of contact for all County departments requesting contracts, managing the County's electronic contract process, drafting and updating the County contract policies, organizing the annual meeting of the New Hanover County Financing Corporation and preparing minutes, drafting documents and maintaining files to include the corporate seal for the Financing Corporation, and acting as a liaison for the County Attorney's Office by negotiating and updating contracts with commercial legal database providers.
The role entails additional responsibilities including, preparing legal documents, conducting legal research by reviewing case files, identifying legal issues and precedents, examining civil citations, interviewing witnesses, and conducting title searches, including commercial legal databases.
Additionally, the paralegal will assist in preparing documents received from Bond Attorneys for agenda or publication under the direction of the County Attorney/Finance Officer within statutory timelines.
The selected candidate will coordinate information and documentation with appropriate departments and/or outside agencies according to policy or statute, and notify the newspaper of all legal advertisements within statutory deadlines.
They will also observe, participate in, and/or report on all bond objection hearings or election protests as necessary.The role performs general office duties by providing assistance and backup, including tasks such as payroll, accounts payable, budgeting, answering phones, covering the front desk, scanning documents, processing mail, and notarizing documents as needed.
