    PRIMARY FUNCTION:


    To work in close cooperation with the staff, parents, and other members of the community to determine common educational goals and objectives that will provide an effective Montessori and project based educational program directed toward meeting the intellectual, emotional, and social needs of each student; to act as the educational leader and manager of the school, and to have the direct responsibility for the administration of the school and its educational program.

    Director of Compliance and Accountability


    STAFF ASSIGNED:
    Assigned certificated and classified personnel.


    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provides leadership to school staff in interpreting district policies, defining and clarifying educational objectives including use of the Montessori model and Project Based Learning, and stimulating high levels of job performance.
    • Embraces a future focused mindset with the ability to develop innovative thinking and solve complex problems.
    • Plans, organizes, controls and directs instructional activities, special programs, and plan operations; confers with District Office personnel regarding staff, programs, students, finances, and legal requirements; implements and modifies the school's mission, goals, objectives and programs as needed.
    • Plans, directs, and evaluates the instructional program in the school with an understanding and appreciation for the need to modify traditional curriculum to meet the needs of individual students; communicates with teachers to assure instructional programs meet student needs and District and State requirements.
    • Assigns, trains, supervises, evaluates staff. Requests new staff as needed. Interviews and recommends the employment of certificated personnel for site. Assigns faculty and staff as appropriate to meet school objectives.
    • Inspects school site to ensure proper maintenance, operations, and safety; assures proper management and inventory of school curriculum materials.
    • Guides and supports a standards based curriculum, instruction, and assessments that address student outcomes and uses the Montessori method and/or Project Based Learning.
    • Responsible for overall student positive learning outcomes as reflected on MAPs assessments.
    • Directs and participates in a planned program of classroom visitations and observations; documents evidence of substandard performance; offers supports, recommends discipline, or termination of staff as appropriate.
    • Supervises a fair and consistent student discipline policy.
    • Studies and initiates the use of new teaching methods and staff development materials; initiates, encourages, and directs the implementation of instructional programs.
    • Plans and directs the daily operations of the school site; develops and administers site budgets; ensures proper allocation of funds for instructional and non-instructional equipment and materials.
    • Coordinates and meets with school site advisory groups; conducts student/parent appeals; responds to and resolves parent, student, and staff complaints; represents the school at Board, District, and community events.
    • Directs the implementation of staff development and inservice training; updates staff on revised policies and procedures and implements changes.
    • Contributes to the periodic reports to the State, Executive Director or designee, and other reports as authorized or directed.
    • Supervises the maintenance of records of student attendance, and of permanent records of student accomplishment.
    • Maintains an effective communication system, including keeping the Director of Compliance and Accountability or designee informed regarding developments in his/her school.
    • Promotes positive and effective relationships among staff, students, and parents.
    • Ensures the health, safety and welfare of students; oversees attendance, behavior management, counseling, guidance, and other support services; provides individual academic and personal supports to students and parents.
    • Prepares and writes correspondence, bulletins, and other communication on behalf of the school; arranges for school level public relations and publicity for special events and achievements as appropriate.
    • Coordinates, organizes, and implements all student activities in the school.
    • Responsible for being knowledgeable and current relative to District, State, and Federal policies, laws, and regulations as they relate to the school and its programs; administers District and school site policies and safety programs.
    • Serves on various district committees as directed by the Executive Director or designee.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


    Master's degree in a related field preferred; Preliminary or Clear California Administrative Services Credential required; Appropriate valid California clear teaching credential desired.

    At least five years of successful educational leadership experience desired. Montessori Teaching or Administration Certification desired.


    RESPONSIBILITY:
    Responsibilities include working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the organization's services.


    KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

    ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.

    Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods.

    Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment.

    Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Must be able to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings.

    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
    some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment. Incumbents may be required to work evening and weekend hours as assigned.

    Incumbents may be required to travel both inside and outside of school district boundaries to attend required meetings or events.

    Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment.

    Sitting for extended periods of time. Seeing to read a variety of materials. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
