Our Middleville, MI location is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist. This role will perform a wide variety of payroll processing activities.

This includes processing designated payrolls in a timely manner, maintains compliance with tax laws, and balances and reconciles payroll data.

This role works closely with HR and other business partners on payroll related matters, assisting with and resolving payroll issues.

The Payroll Representative will possess strong technical and communication skills, effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to systems and payroll processes.


Responsibilities:


  • Process end to end payroll weekly and biweekly across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Perform routine maintenance updates to employee records within UKG.
  • Perform system processes within UKG such as, pay increases, transfer hours, calculate payroll, enter schedules into timecards, timecard audits, and validation of payroll and timekeeping records.
  • Complete complex payroll adjustments (retro calculations, overpayments, bonuses, garnishments, grossups, W2c, etc.)
  • Participate in supplemental department services (PTO, unemployment, data quality, unclaimed property, employment verification, and etc.)
  • Maintains current knowledge of UKG and earning/deduction/benefit codes.
  • Regularly audits payroll output to ensure accuracy and process any corrections as necessary in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of the setup and processing of supplemental payroll runs (Rewards, Bonus, etc.)
  • Calculate and maintain Garnishment, Levy, and Child Support Orders and records in accordance with state and federal laws.

Job Requirements:


  • 2+ years of payroll, HR, or other High level clerical experience.
  • Experience with endtoend payroll processing for 200+ employees across multiple sites preferred.
  • Microsoft Excel Data skills including the ability to analyze large amounts of data utilizing Vlook ups to identify exceptions and issues is required.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Strong Analytical skills: Critical Thinker, Problem Solver
  • Ability to understand complex processing issues and their effect on other departments and processes is required.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to recognize process improvement opportunities and make recommendations for improvements is required.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to multitask and handle multiple deadlines in a fastpaced environment is required.
  • Experience with UKG, UltiPro, and/or Kronos is preferred.
  • Associates degree is preferred.
  • Experience with processing payroll for a union is a plus.
