    SUMMARY:

    Assists the school principal in overall administration of instructional program and campus level operations so that maximum student learning is accomplished and demonstrated. Direct and manage assigned areas of instructional program and campus operations. Oversee assigned student activities and services.

    Coordinate and oversee the state, federal and national mandated student assessment programs for the campus. Ensure security and integrity of testing materials and data in accordance with state and federal requirements.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    Testing
    • Serve as the Campus Testing Coordinator for all cycles of state assessments, including but not limited to End of Course exams, TELPAS, STAAR, STAAR ALT, etc.
    • Implement procedures for ensuring security and confidentiality of state-mandated testing programs and other assessments.
    • Oversee test implementation and monitor testing activities to ensure that procedures are followed, and deadlines met.
    • Consult with staff to provide appropriate testing accommodation for Limited English Proficient (LEP) students and students receiving Special Services.
    • Identify, investigate, and address testing irregularities. Report discrepancies and disciplinary actions taken against students as required.
    • Work with instructional teams to analyze test data and develop student achievement goals and objectives.
    • Consult with District Assessment Department to administer and interpret assessment guidelines and procedures.
    • Maintain and ensure integrity of testing data. Ensure all materials and data are submitted within established timelines.
    • Track and monitor location of test materials throughout the distribution, return, and storage process.
    Instructional Management
    • Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate. Participate in program evaluation measures and make suggestions for improvement where needed.
    • Reinforce expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies and classroom management.
    • Foster collegiality and team building among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in decision-making process.
    • May observe and monitor classroom instruction to support teachers and ensure appropriate instructional strategies are utilized and relevant learning opportunities are provided for all learners.
    • Ensure that quality, differentiated instructional programs are provided to meet individual student needs.
    • Organize and oversee grade reporting as directed by principal.
    School/Organizational Improvement
    • May supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with attendance clerk on follow-up activities, as directed.
    • May assist principal in preparing budgets and aligning resource allocation with district and campus goals and documented program needs, as directed.
    • May participate in interviewing, selecting, and orienting highly qualified staff, as directed.
    • May observe and monitor classroom instruction to support teachers and ensure appropriate instructional strategies are utilized and relevant learning opportunities are provided for all learners, as directed.
    • Take a leadership role in planning activities and implementing programs to ensure attainment of the school's mission.
    • Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
    • Help principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain records and track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.
    Student Management
    • Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
    • Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
    • May conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
    • Ensure that students are adequately supervised during noninstructional periods.
    • Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with attendance clerk on follow-up investigations.
    • May serve as chairperson in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings.
    • May serve on student support committees (i.e., CARE team, SAVE committee) as designated.
    Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
    • May assume leadership for planning and scheduling of daily school activities including the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
    • Work with department heads and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs.
    • Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment and monitor and maintain inventory in accordance with district procedures.
    • Participate in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
    Personnel Management
    • Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences. Serve as second appraiser as needed for designated teacher appraisal system.
    • Assist principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
    Policy, Reports, and Law
    • Assist the principal in effectively developing and communicating to students, staff and parents school guidelines for student conduct; ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that consequences of misconduct are applied equitably to all students; record PEIMS data related to discipline.
    • Maintain confidentiality.
    • Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
    • Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research.
    • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
    • Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
    • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certification:
    • Master's degree from an accredited university
    • Texas principal or other appropriate Texas Certificate
    • Certified Texas Teacher Support and Evaluation System (T-TESS) appraiser
    Experience:
    • Two (2) years successful classroom teacher experience
    SPECIAL KNOWLEGDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
    • Knowledge of the state testing program and accountability system
    • Ability to use student test data systems
    • Ability to perform statistical analysis
    • Ability to use personal computer and software programs to collect, report, and present data and test-related information
    • Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
    • Knowledge of campus operations
    • Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
    • Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
    • Ability to manage budget and personnel
    • Ability to implement policy and procedures
    • Ability to interpret data
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:
    • Supervise and evaluate the work of professional and paraprofessional staff as assigned by the school principal. Direct the work of teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned.
