Enterprise Data Governance & Platforms (EDGP) is part of the larger Enterprise Digital and Data Solutions (EDDS) organization.

EDGP improves the customer experience and drives business growth through robust enterprise-wide data policies and governance and enabling a data-driven culture, while developing digital and data platforms that provide insightful customer relationships and allow users to leverage enterprise-wide data capabilities.

The Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) team is part of the American Express Data Office, our global data center of excellence responsible for realizing the potential of our data.

EDG provides the principles, policies, processes, architecture, and governance to enable consistent, trusted, and usable data to drive accurate data-driven business outcomes.


Responsibilities
The Manager Data Retention Strategy Role will be responsible for:

  • Supporting Enterprise Data Governance strategies and policies, including the Enterprise Data Governance Policy and associated Standards and the Enterprise Data Retention and Deletion Management strategy
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders including EDG, Federated Data Offices, Global Privacy Oversight, and Global Records Management teams to ensure strategic alignment
  • Providing requirements to Product Owners and Technology to build, enhance and maintain tools that automate governance capabilities, as well as related metrics and reports that track compliance
  • Providing support in training, communications, and change management related to Data Governance across the Enterprise
  • Providing support for regulatory exams and continuous monitoring over the program
  • Supporting the integration of Policy and Procedures into key processes across the Enterprise
  • Collaborating across crossfunctional stakeholders to build a comprehensive project roadmap which sets the overall strategic direction for the initiatives as well as execution details and timelines
  • Supporting creation of materials for regular updates to senior level stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A strong strategic approach with 3+ years prior experience developing and implementing data governance and management practices regarding data governance, and deletion and retention of data.
  • Experience with developing and implementing Data Governance at an Enterprise or local level for a financial services company
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with implementing requirements of BCBS239 and Privacy regulation
  • Proven track record of driving results in a fastpaced environment often with significant ambiguity and needing to make decisions with less than perfect information.
  • Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and encourage partners and stake
