Veda - Modern Indian Bistro is a fine dining restaurant in the heart of Philadelphia offering full-service Indian cuisine. We are interested in growing our dynamic team and are in search of a Host.

You are the first person guests see when they walk in the door; you make them feel welcome, glad they came, and seat them quickly.

You work together with the team to create a remarkable experience for our guests every day.

Join us in serving up the best contemporary North Indian cuisine in our intimate & spacious dining room and a beautiful balcony bar.

Here's what you'll be taking care of as a Host:

• Welcoming guests and ascertaining their dining needs
• Seating guests and managing the seating chart
• Ensuring guest touch points are clean and sanitized; when the guest is done with their meal, giving them a genuine thank you as they walk out the door.
• Knowing regular guests by name; knowing their preferences and needs
• Recording guest's names and the number of people in the party when they're on a wait, provide guests with estimated waiting time and seat them as soon as a table becomes available
• Helping servers and managers by communicating with them in terms of party counts and seating so that everything runs smoothly; cross train as needed with food running and bussing tables
• Performing opening and closing duties, as needed
• Assisting others with side work including, but not limited to cleaning, stocking, folding silverware, etc.
• Ensuring knowledge of the menu and responding to guest inquiries and requests in a timely manner
• Assisting fellow team members and other departments wherever necessary to maintain positive working relationships
• Prior customer service experience and the ability to create memorable experiences for guests
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs., and continuously stay on your feet for an extended period of time
• Diploma preferred; must be at least 21 years old
• Excellent communication, hospitality, interpersonal, organization, problemsolving, and math skills
• Willing to work a flexible schedule; must be available for weekends/holidays
• Work in a noisy, fastpaced environment with distracting conditions; walk or stand 100% of the shift
