Job Type Full-timeDescriptionSHINE Technologies is seeking a Radiation Effects Testing Operator to operate a linear accelerator and tritium purification system to produce fusion neutrons in support of customers conducting radiation effects testing of components, as part of SHINE's FLARE (Fusion Linear Accelerator for Radiation Effects) divisionDuties and Responsibilities:
Specific duties and responsibilities of the Radiation Effects Testing Operator include, but are not limited to:Complete required training and operate a neutron driver linear accelerator system and a tritium purification system in accordance with written procedures and plans.
Write and review procedures and work plans for the safe and efficient execution of work.
Interface with and support on-site customers conducting radiation effects testing.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
Perform equipment tests and record data in logs.
Oversee or perform administrative tasks associated with facility activities.
Participate in a training program that, upon successful completion, will result in a State of Wisconsin Radioactive Materials License Authorized User qualification.
Although flexible work hours may be available, shift-work schedules may be required, and extended hours will sometimes be necessary to complete required work assignment with little or no advance notice.
Requirements Bachelor's or Associate's degree in relevant engineering, science, or related technical field; or Navy Nuclear experience.Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Previous experience as a radiation worker desired, but not required.
Technical understanding of accelerator and/or nuclear facility principles and operation preferred.
Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant's ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls.
Additionally, applicant's eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.
