- Underwrite and grow a profitable book of business based on eligibility, loss analysis, exposure analysis, class code, and reinsurance acceptability.
- Review Due Diligence reports, Loss control surveys, loss runs, and timeliness of premium payments.
- Delegate activities of underwriting assistants and manage their response to compliance issues and requests from internal departments and external entities.
- Present accounts to management for underwriting approval, accompanied by the appropriate underwriting data and recommendations.
- Stay current with rules and regulations, market conditions and corporate underwriting disciplines.
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial insurance experience with at least 3 years of Workers' Compensation underwriting individual accounts.
- Demonstrates accuracy, attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and provide high level of customer service.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments.
- Ability to assess business opportunities with brokers and clients by understanding their problems and needs.
- Efficient management of accounts.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Internet software and Microsoft Products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
