KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Acquire and maintain adequate inventory of supplies required for packaging of product.

Operate all machines in the pack-out department.

Make all required adjustments as needed with a minimum of machine down time.

Maintain good housekeeping practices within the department.

Assign all employees their daily jobs and machine assignments.

Ensure that all paperwork and logs are completed.


Manage employee breaks and lunch breaks to ensure maximum production on the machines and that all employees get their authorized breaks.

Ensure that all machines are operated safely and to their maximum potential.

Immediately notify the shift supervisor of all accidents or product quality issues.

Immediately notify the shift supervisor when a machine goes down for any reason other than scheduled maintenance.

Brief the incoming lead packer on current jobs and machine status.

Perform a joint inspection of the department with the incoming lead and corrects deficiencies.


Check all jobs at the end of run for completeness and ensure that the new product is properly set up and all corrugation is properly labeled.

Ensure that all packers follow all safety rules, regulations, and policies.

Coordinate all Pack-out personnel in the operation of the machines.

Perform other duties as assigned.


MANAGERIAL / SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES


High school diploma or General Education degree (GED); vocational school; demonstrated mechanical ability; six or more month's related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Good hand -eye coordination is essential.

Required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Regularly push or pull a pallet jack with 1000-pound loads.

Frequently exposed to fumes and dust.

Demonstrate knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.

Work near moving mechanical parts.


Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Write simple correspondence.

Effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations.

Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Give clear, concise, understandable instructions to employees.
