    Description

    Job Overview:
    We are looking for a skilled Project Estimator with a background in civil or marine engineering, or heavy construction.

    This full-time role involves crafting precise and timely proposals and estimates for both private and public sector projects ranging from $50 to $100 million, ensuring the company submits competitive bids.

    This role is office-based with no remote work option.


    Required Qualifications:

    Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.

    Experience:
    At least 8 years of estimating experience within the industry.

    Technical Skills:
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    Experience with AGTEK Take-off, Primavera Scheduling software, and estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid or similar.
    In-depth knowledge of agency (U)DBE requirements and civil construction industry standards.


    Key Responsibilities:

    Estimate Development:

    Collect and analyze data to determine labor, material, equipment costs, location, and other factors, ensuring high-quality and prompt estimates.


    Project Review:
    Examine project drawings, specifications, and site conditions, incorporating feedback from field operations into final estimates.

    Competitive Analysis:
    Evaluate alternative solutions and construction techniques to enhance bid competitiveness.

    Quantity Verification:
    Verify "take-off" quantities to ensure the accuracy of data used in estimates.

    Historical Data Utilization:
    Use cost history data to validate estimates.

    Mathematical Accuracy:
    Perform advanced calculations to ensure logically accurate cost estimates.

    Bid Review Participation:
    Present estimates and engage in bid reviews with senior management to confirm their accuracy and completeness.

    Stakeholder Communication:
    Maintain communication with owners, subcontractors, and public and private entities to ensure competitive bidding.
    Pre-construction Meetings: Share bid information with field operations to ensure they understand the project scope and key construction methods.

    Relationship Building:
    Develop and sustain business relationships to expand bidding opportunities in the regional market.

    Preconstruction Services:
    Lead or participate in Design-build preconstruction services to deliver competitive estimates and schedules.
