Description
***The Membership Engagement Specialist will play a vital role in fostering meaningful connections with our diverse membership base, specifically with our members in training - medical student and residents and fellows under the direction of the Deputy Director of Member Engagement. This position will be responsible for supporting the development of and executing strategies to enhance member engagement, satisfaction, and retention among these member segments. The Specialist will cultivate relationships with multiple volunteer leaders and develop marketing communication strategies to engage current and prospective members and identifying and implementing resources and programs to address their unique needs. Collaborating closely with various teams, the Specialist will drive innovative approaches to deliver value-added benefits, educational resources, and networking opportunities to our medical students and resident-fellow members.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Membership Engagement and Communication:


  • Develop and implement targeted recruitment, engagement and renewal strategies for medical students, residents and fellows both domestically and internationally.
  • Coordinate marketing initiatives and promotional activities to increase acquisition, engagement and renewals within the medical student, resident, and fellow segments, to include copywriting, collaborating with marketing on design.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance member benefits and engagement specific to medical students and residentfellows and coordinate inter
- and intra-departmentally on the development of resources.

  • Monitor membership trends and provide insights for improving engagement and retention strategies.
  • Coordinate formal and informal market research for this cohort.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Director to articulate the unique value of membership through various channels.
  • Maintain inventory of internal products and benefits relevant to medical students and residentfellow members.
  • Regularly review and coordinate with Marketing to update the membership resources located on the District Branch Resources section of the APA website.
  • Serve as the liaison on the medical student and residentfellow listservs.
  • Coordinate marketing for APA's affinity programs.

Program Management

  • Manage the annual planning and implementation of Resident-Fellow programs, with a particular focus on the APA's 100% Club Program to support program coordinators/training directors.
  • Provide support to adhoc work groups of the Membership Committee and District Branch Executives as needed, specifically regarding initiatives related to medical students and residentfellow members.
  • Support PsychSIGN, the APA's medical student member group, by providing information, and resources tailored to medical students interested in psychiatry.
  • Manage submissions of Residency and Fellowship vacancies in Job Central.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to the membership development function.
Other duties as assigned.
