Description

The Controller is an integral member of the leadership team, providing guidance, expertise and contributing to the overall success of Junior Achievement.

This position manages financial and asset management functions, establishes and maintains banking and investment relationships, ensures compliance and oversees daily accounting activities.


Primary Responsibilities:


Strategic Planning:
Provides financial insights and recommendations to support strategic initiatives. This involves evaluating the financial feasibility of new projects or ventures and optimizing resource allocation to achieve long-term objectives.


Provides accurate and timely financial statements: Prepares income & expense and balance sheets for each of Junior Achievement's 5 regional offices/boards as well as a consolidated statement for the State Board.


Forecasting:
Prepares monthly and quarterly statewide forecasts; recommends corrective actions as needed.


Budgeting:
Leads the annual budget process and provides guidance and coaching for regional directors to develop sustainable area budgets.


Compliance and Governance:
Ensures compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies. Implements robust controls and procedures to safeguard financial integrity and mitigate risks.


Continuous Improvement:
Drives process improvements and innovation in budgeting and forecasting techniques to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness. This may involve leveraging technology solutions, refining analytical models, and incorporating best practices from industry benchmarks.


Oversees current status on cash, receivables, payables and year-to-date contributions.


Maximizes utilization of cash and other assets including management and support of board Investment Committee.


Develops cash flow projections, manages banking relations, and handles investment transactions under guidance of board committees.


Oversees facilities management. Coordinates maintenance and repair vendors, ensures all building and operating permits are in compliance, and schedules maintenance and inspection of all facility systems.


Complies with legal filings for IRS 990, 1099's, and other state and city documents. Schedules and coordinates annual audit by CPA firm.


Other duties as required

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent, and minimum of 5 years general accounting/finance experience. Non-profit experience highly preferred. Computer literacy a must, including spreadsheet, database and accounting software. Experience working with Financial Edge NXT or similar. CPA License preferred.

From $1.00 per hour
