Position Description:
FEV is seeking an experienced design engineer capable of understanding design specifications and manufacturing processes for various types of powertrain components found in the automotive industry.
The responsible engineer would be required to facilitate communication between manufacturing plant and the design team helping to identify and resolve issues in a simultaneous engineering environment.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include leading the design, development, validation, and release activities for various vehicle systems.
We are looking for Design and Release Engineers to be responsible for commercial and passenger vehicle body-in-white, cab-in-white, closures, interior, and exterior systems.
There will be a considerable level of interaction with the component suppliers to ensure required technical content of product.The Design and Release Engineer will create and maintain engineering documentation, direct the efforts of design personnel, oversee prototype builds, and track all system validation activities.
Qualifications:
BSME minimum
3+ years' experience required in design, validation, manufacturing, and production release of vehicle systems for commercial and/or passenger vehicles
Experience with the design of body-in-white, cab-in-white, closures, interior, or exterior systems
Knowledge of GD&T principles and assembly level dimensional stack-ups
Thorough understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
Specific experience managing supplier quality, cost, and timing is a plus
Experienced in engineering documentation, FMEA, DVP&R, etc.
Experience developing engineering test specifications
Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating design and/or production validation testing (experience using reliability methods a plus)
Ability to perform analysis and interpret test data to support product validation
Demonstrated problem solving skills using Design of Experiments (DOE), 8D, etc.
Must be a highly motivated team player with excellent organizational and communication skills
Teamcenter experience a plus
Ability to travel to Europe as required
