Position
Summary:
Department Secretary will provide reception, clerical, and data entry services for the program.

- Provide reception, clerical, and data entry services for program.
Responsibilities:
- Answer telephones in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner. Screen all calls. Direct calls to proper staff or areas.
- Take messages accurately and relay messages promptly
- Accurately post charges for all outpatient services in appropriate systems.
- Maintain files in accordance with department procedure.
- Prepare copy work for various departments when requested.
- Greet patients and visitors, ascertain needs and respond appropriately as directed by policy and procedures.
- Ensure timely and accurate patient preregistration, signin, activation and reregistration in accordance with system processes.
- Transcribe and type documents, reports, memos, and correspondence as directed.
- Sort and distribute all mail accurately on a daily basis.
- Manage and order office supplies as needed. Maintain office equipment, calling for repairs when necessary.
- Provide crosscoverage, as necessary, for benefit verification and patient registration.
- Cover for senior secretary in her/his absence.
- Support customer service and performance improvement goals of the department; collaborate with other caregivers/staff, within and outside the department, to develop means of enhancing patient care and service.
- Maintain standards of confidentiality.
- Participate in unit compliance as related to established standards.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Credentials:
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- H.S. Diploma/GED (required)
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
Minimum Experience:
Previous experience in secretarial and/or reception duties is required. Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
