- Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the MedSurg department and their families.
- Clinical services could include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support.
- Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the MedSurg department.
- Contribute to the efficient operation of the MedSurg department ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
- A high school diploma or GED certificate
- Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment)
- Ability to pass clinical competency testing
- Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
- Basic math and computer proficiency
- One of the following:
- Fluency in another language a plus
- Previous medical/surgical experience preferred

Certified Nursing Assistant II
Location: 6 East
Schedule: 40 Hour Night Shift Every Other Weekend
ABOUT THE Medical Surgical/6 East DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:
6 East is a 36-bed unit caring for hematology-oncology and general medical patients.
Team members working on 6 East learn advanced skills and competencies related to care/administration of chemotherapeutic agents in an inpatient setting, including stem cell transplants.
Nurses also develop expertise in caring for patients with sickle cell disease.POSITION SUMMARY:
As a CNA in MedSurg, you will be a key member of the healthcare team at BMC.
Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice, our CNAs provide direct clinical and support services.
Using our patient-centered care model and uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, you will participate in the delivery of care to our patients and their families.
You will also work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to provide a variety of support services to meet patient, family, and staff needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
Completed an approved certified nursing assistant training
Completed an approved certified medical assistant training
One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)
