    Feed Department Manager - Gateway FS - Nashville, IL

    PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

    Under the direction of the General Manager, generates profitable sales through target marketing, competitive analysis, and providing value-added feed products, services, and recommendations.

    Ensures the credit worthiness of customer and promotes credit programs as marketing tools.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    Supervises, leads, and develops employees with feed-related responsibilities.
    Develops and implements marketing plans and sales strategies that generate profitable sales.

    Utilizes target marketing and professional sales techniques including feed management programs, emphasis of appropriate features and benefits, and contact management system when calling on patrons and prospects.

    Develops territory and competitive analysis to maintain a current knowledge of the marketplace and the competition.
    Provides value-added feed products, services, and recommendations to patrons and prospects.

    Schedules product delivery to customer locations, makes deliveries as needed, and assists with coordination of feed mills, inventories, routes, etc.

    Conducts regular patron meetings on product and technical information.
    Provides customer service by following up on customer concerns and seeking reasonable resolution.
    Ensures the credit worthiness of customers, quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained. Promotes the use of credit programs as a sales tool and helps provide the required information to establish credit. Works closely with the credit department in collection of accounts receivable.

    OTHER JOB FUCTIONS

    Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards, adheres to the uniform policy, and maintains the appropriate professional image.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience

    Normally requires a college degree in agriculture, preferably Animal Science, marketing, or other business related discipline and at least 4 years sales/marketing experience to demonstrate the ability to generate profitable sales.

    Normally requires an Enterprise Specialist certification or the ability to obtain/maintain one to demonstrate advanced feed sales training and experience.


    Functional Competencies
    Understanding and experience with marketing strategy, marketing program execution, price strategy, budgeting, and strategic planning.

    Understanding of all feed-related products and livestock production methods along with sales ability/persuasiveness, face-to-face selling skills, assertiveness, tenacity/persistence, resilience, competitive adeptness, credit worthiness, and product proficiency.

    Demonstrated supervisory experience including hiring, orientation, coaching, counseling, performance evaluations, and training and development, etc. and the ability to get work done through others.
    Proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
    Proven professional communication, persuasion, presentation, and customer service skills.
    Demonstrated math skills and the ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, etc.
    Ability to use the computer to enhance business process.

    Demonstrated core competencies including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

    Other Requirements
    Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and have the ability to travel independently and overnight as needed.
