What Our Strategy Consulting Senior Analysts Do

Working out of our Annapolis office in the Washington, DC, area, you will work as part of project teams under the direction of a Consultant and senior leaders within Flagship to:

• Research market trends, providers, products, and other aspects of the payments and fintech industry to inform market studies, competitive benchmarking and product strategy recommendations
• Conduct and support phone and video interviews with industry practitioners and other experts
• Perform complex financial analyses, including business/value case development, company valuation through discounted cash flow modeling and comparable company analysis, P&L and KPI benchmarking, and addressable market sizing
• Develop client presentations and thought leadership articles
• Attend client meetings and presentations

Our project work consists of:

• Client and market insights: market definition, market sizing, competitive benchmarking, customer / portfolio analysis, and voice of the customer interviews
• Growth strategy: strategic planning, opportunity identification and prioritization, product design and solutioning, go-to-market optimization, pricing strategy, new market entry
• Value acceleration: operating model definition, facilitating strategic partnerships, advising on vendor selection, cost and process optimization, expert advisory to guide implementation activities
• M&A advisory: target identification and screening, buy-side commercial due diligence, sell-side M&A support, post-close integration and growth strategy
• Our clients include global, well-known industry leaders and high-growth startups
• Our project teams are staffed with a mix of professionals across our four offices (Annapolis, London, Amsterdam, and Prague), which provides a unique opportunity to work in a multi-national, multi-cultural environment
• Your projects will be across a mix of clients, assignment types, and subject matter within the payments and fintech industries, providing you with a variety of opportunities to learn new content and skills

Who We Look For

• Minimum of 2 years prior work experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or related functions
• Strong consulting skills including, but not limited to, good English language communication and professional writing skills, enthusiasm for collaboration and teamwork, analytical thinking, strong work ethic, ability to self-manage, understanding of business/finance/strategy concepts, and experience drafting and formatting client-ready deliverables in PowerPoint and Excel
• Desire to grow and advance as a professional
• Undergraduate (Bachelor's) degree or higher in business, economics, engineering or another STEM major
• Willingness to work primarily in-person at our offices in the Washington, DC area
• Willingness to travel on occasion if needed (although most of our work is based in our offices, travel is sometimes required for meetings and on-site interactions with clients)
• Industry knowledge and an understanding of payments and fintech are highly valued but not required. Specific topics where industry knowledge would be valuable include understanding the payment card ecosystem (e.g., four-party model), merchant acquiring and PSPs, payment networks, credit card issuing, ACH / RTP and other bank payments, digital wallets, BNPL and other types of consumer lending, digital banking, consumer and commercial lending, embedded finance, and open banking
