Dieticians work in:

Diet and nutrition counseling and therapy
Food service management in various healthcare facilities
Public health for promoting health through proper nutrition and preventing nutrition-related diseases
Teaching and research in the context of studies and vocational training

They are employed in hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, medical practices, health insurance companies, or are self-employed.

Qualifications

Requirements and admission to the training:

Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent education
Good performance, especially in natural sciences, and excellent command of the German language in both written and spoken form are essential
Medical certificate proving suitability for the profession
Physical and mental resilience is expected (applicants with severe food or other allergies or metabolic diseases are not suitable for the profession)
Certificate from the health department according to § 43 para. 1 of the Infection Protection Act
