The State of New Hampshire, Department of Safety, Division of State Police, Troop G, has a part-time vacancy for Motor Carrier Safety Administration Program Assistant.

**SUMMARY: To perform diverse professional duties assisting the Motor Carrier Enforcement Unit Supervisors in implementing and overseeing the Motor Carrier Safety Administration Program within the Division of State Police, Troop G.

18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree

36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree

54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

Associates degree from a recognized college or technical institute with major study in business Administration, Criminal Justice or the equivalent.

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience:

Three years of experience in office management, project management, or a responsible clerical position with responsibility for providing program information to others.

Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.


License/Certification:
None required.

**RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the Troop Commander in developing, coordinating and implementing Motor Carrier Safety program activities and reporting requirements. Insures timely and accurate reporting of commercial vehicle inspection and crash data to the federal government.


Provides administrative supervision and training to subordinates working on Division and federal grant programs, ensuring that tasks are completed properly and in a timely manner.

Monitors workflow to ensure that schedules and grant deadlines are being met.


Responds to general inquiries from the public and motor carrier industry requiring familiarity with federal and state regulations governing commercial motor vehicles and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Program and/or efficient fact gathering for purposes of making appropriate referrals.


Performs related clerical and administrative tasks for the Troop command Staff and Motor Carrier Enforcement Unit Troopers, including drafting correspondence, compiling program information, and maintaining program files, exercising independent judgment in making decisions related to developing efficient and accurate methods to complete time sensitive tasks.

Maintains confidentiality on all issues regarding unit matters.


Compiles, prepares and reviews data, reports, and forms for accuracy and conformity to state law and federal grant guidelines and enters it into various computer programs.


Enters commercial motor vehicle crash and inspection data from verbal instruction, letters, reports, weekly activity sheets and other written documents, retrieves and updates information from a work processing system or database, tracks same data for monthly statistical reports; serving as the liaison to communicate and share data with federal agencies.


Assists with training personnel in computer and work processing functions and the various State Police and Federal MCSAP databases and forms.
