About the Unit
The Pharmacy Department provides pharmacy services for Inpatients, ED, Surgery, and the Infusion Center.
Scope of Work
The Pharmacy Technician, under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, processes, prepares, and delivers medications and supplies, working with multiple medication automation systems.
Essential Functions
- Prepares supplies / medication, including complex sterile formulations under the direction of a Pharmacist. May prepare hazardous or biologic products when properly trained and competencies are passed.
- Prepares and packages bulk medications into unit of use packaging.
- Handles controlled substances for pharmacy and patient care areas under direct supervision of a pharmacist per federal and state law.
- Delivers pharmacy prepared medications, controlled substances and supplies to various nursing stations/patient care areas.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Maintains all requirements for CPhT certifications. Completes all Spectrum Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates.
Qualifications:
- Required High School Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred Associate's Degree
- Hospital experience Preferred
- LIC-Pharmacist Intern
- STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
- LIC-Pharmacy Technician Temp
- STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required And
- LIC-Pharmacy Technician
- STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days required
- CRT-Pharmacy Technician, Certified (CPHT)
- PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Excludes
- LIC
- Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required Or
- CRT-Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)
- NHA National Healthcareer Association Excludes
- LIC
- Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required
- Inpatient experience or IV experience would be a great plus
