    Salary & Hours:
    $21.5/hour - 35 hours per week (hourly, non-exempt)

    General Responsibilities:


    The Youth Program Coordinator administers referrals and completes case management of juvenile-related education sessions and mediations received from Steuben County DSS and Probation.


    Specifics of Duties:
    Administers the life skills component of the Juvenile Diversion Program in Steuben County which includes: intake, scheduling education and mediation sessions, sending reminder notices, maintaining thorough documentation of conversations and correspondence, opening, closing, monitoring and follow up of cases;
    Conducts case development of the Juvenile Diversion Program through personal contact, phone calls, information gathering, preparation, coordinating education and mediation sessions, assigning mediator, preparing written consent agreements, and follow-up with youth and families;
    Develops and maintains good relationships with judges, probation officers, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, human service agencies, and all other community organizations and individuals;
    Completes Caseload Manager recordkeeping;
    Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual activity reports;
    Assist supervisor with the development of volunteer mediators and apprentices;
    Coordinates in-service training, orientations, presentations as it pertains to the Juvenile Diversion Program;
    Obtain and maintain the Centers' mediator certification to mediate as necessary;
    Attends and participates in all Steuben County staff meetings and agency staff meetings and activities;

    Required Knowledge and Skills:
    Must be able to complete training and apprenticeship to become a certified mediator;
    Ability to work effectively with clients in various stages of conflict;
    Strong organizational and time management abilities with ability to work independently;
    Ability to work with individuals from all socio-economic backgrounds;
    Proven ability to exercise confidentiality, interview and make assessments;
    Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
    Initiative, integrity and a commitment to peaceful conflict resolution through mediation;
    Knowledge of Windows, Excel and basic computer technology;
    Must be able to type a minimum of 35 wpm;

    Minimum Qualifications:


    Graduation from a recognized college or university with an Associates Degree in the field of Human Services, Social Science or Criminal Justice, plus two years of work experience in a related field; or any equivalent combination of work experience and education sufficient to indicate ability to perform the job.
