Description
The primary role of the Developmental Specialist position is to serve as a therapeutic-educational liaison supporting a neurodivergent child in the private, mainstream educational setting.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to a child in a school setting using a neurodiversityaffirming lens.
- Collaborate with school team, as well as clinical team and family, and take lead on developing individual support plans (ISPs) as needed (may include verbal and/or written communication.)
- Implement accommodations and modifications during classes and activities throughout the school day to ensure academic and social success.
- Support social interactions with peers during playbased opportunities.
- Participation in weekly reflective supervision with supervisor.
- Orientation and ongoing training on the DIR/Floortime and Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health practices.
- Oneonone developmental therapy, in home
This may include collaboration with additional team members through team meetings, and verbal and written communication.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required. Child development, Neurodiversity, DIR/Floortime, Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, or Early Childhood Education experience preferred.
