Addiction Counselor/Substance Abuse Counselor
***:The Addiction Counselor is responsible for providing substance abuse counseling, assessing and monitoring client behavior within Monarch Shores and Chapters Capistrano Detoxification, Residential, and Therapeutic Programs. The Addiction Counselor works in collaboration with the clinical team to ensure all services are being delivered to Monarch Shores and Chapters Capistrano standards. The Addiction Counselor is responsible for documenting counseling sessions, treatment planning, group facilitation and biopsychosocial assessments. The Addiction Counselor will also be providing crisis management and education for the clients and family/significant others in a therapeutic milieu setting.

Hourly:
$25 -$27 per hour DOE.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Addiction counseling.


  • Treatment planning
  • Perform Biopsychosocial assessments
  • Discharge planning
  • Review client chart for completion of all paperwork with appropriate signatures. Complete any paperwork and get any missing signatures from the client.
  • Psychoeducational and recovery group facilitation
  • When indicated, upon a new client's arrival, contact family immediately and set up a schedule of communication for the Addiction Counselor informing them of our desire of regular communications. Family involvement throughout treatment.
  • Complete notes for every group and interaction and document in the EMR. All group and session notes are documented in EMR.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with external customers, families, clients and employees.
  • Assist the clinical team in the coordination of services to clients.
  • Initiate, facilitate and promote on-site activities, support and educational groups, outings.
  • Provide education for clients and significant others.
  • Respond to emergencies and initiate action as required.
  • Record significant events involving client's activities in the EMR daily record.
  • Respond to client complaints.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and training.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


Knowledge:

The incumbent will:

1. Possess a basic knowledge of administrative functions including interpersonal communications, office etiquette, and computer skills.


3. Possess strong clinically ethical standards.


5. Knowledge of dual diagnosis treatment practices including non-pharmacological symptom management techniques.


6. Advanced knowledge of HIPAA regulations and CFR 42 requirements.


7. Possess a basic understanding of report generation, graphical analysis, and data interpretation.

6. Organization - Must be highly organized and efficient in managing the necessary daily client/staff demands and tasks associated with them.


QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERENCES:
The following requirements and preferences will be evaluated and verified to establish employment eligibility.


1. Must Be a certified SUD counselor-CADC/CATC/SUDCC

2. 1-3 Years of experience operating as a CATC/CADC/SUDCC I/II/III


3. 1-3 Year of experience utilizing Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.


4. Experience working with medical records and Kipu is a plus.


5. Individual certification requirements and scope of practice must be maintained.
