Overview:


Federal Realty Investment Trust is currently sourcing for an Abstract Manager, Lease Administration, to be located in the corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD.

The Abstract Manager plans, directs, and coordinates the activities associated with a team of Lease Administrators and manages the day-to-day operational duties of the team ensuring that all activities and deliverables are performed within specified deadlines, policies and procedures are followed, and the accuracy and integrity of the work product are met.

The Manager generates internal Lease Administration management reports, sets monthly schedules, and provides problem solving assistance and advice to the Lease Administrators, in addition to identifying and recommending process improvement opportunities and carrying out related special projects as required.

This individual interfaces regularly with others within the accounting and finance department as well as property operations and legal.


Responsibilities:


  • Guides and ensures accuracy in the abstracting and setup of lease documents including the review and signoff on lease setup packages and rent commencement letters.
  • Helps identify and escalate problematic lease language that is detrimental or difficult to efficiently administer. Prepares an analysis of the financial impact where appropriate.
  • Reviews and provides final approval of operational activities associated with tenant account adjustments, tenant refunds, and other tenantrelated transactions.
  • Leads and provides management oversight to a team of Lease Administrators and manages workflow planning activities.
  • Ensures deadlines are met and deliverables maintain a consistently high degree of accuracy and integrity, meeting key performance indicators.
  • Provides advice and support to the Lease Administrators and others within the organization regarding lease administration, interpretation, and billing.
  • Identifies, develops, and recommends new and efficient methodologies and best practices on an ongoing basis.
  • Establishes and maintains close working relationships with key stakeholders within operations, finance and accounting, and legal.
  • Manages and works on special projects, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, Accounting emphasis preferred
  • 7+ years of commercial real estate lease administration experience required, 3+ years in a managerial role
  • Excellent team leader with outstanding organizational, time management, analytical skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent lease interpretation and research skills
  • Proven problem solving abilities
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly and effectively and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, and intermediate knowledge of Excel, knowledge of JD Edwards preferred
