BU Police Academy Training Program


Boston University Police Department (BUPD) is pleased to offer a unique opportunity for active BU employees to join as Police Officer Trainees.

Selected individuals will undergo training at the Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC), commonly known as the police academy.

As a Police Officer Trainee, you will be affiliated with the Boston University Police Patrolman's Association (BUPPA).

Upon successful completion of the up to 6 months, full-time MPTC training, you will be promoted to the role of Police Officer I.

Qualifications

  • Active BU employees in good standing
  • Eligible for a promotion or transfer within Boston University

Required Skills:


Mandatory Job Requirements

  • At least 21 years old
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Appointees must be eligible for appointment as a Special State Police Officer in accordance with M.G.L. ch.22 s. 6
  • Ability to obtain Massachusetts Class A License to Carry prior to graduating from the Police Academy
  • Active Driver's License

MPTC ROC Police Academy Schedules

  • All police academies operate daily Monday through Friday.
    There are no dormitories.
