The United States Naval Academy (US Naval Academy, USNA, or Navy) is a federal service academy in Annapolis, Maryland. It was established on 10 October 1845 during the tenure of George Bancroft as Secretary of the Navy. The Naval Academy is the second oldest of the five U.S.

service academies and it educates midshipmen for service in the officer corps of the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps.

The 338-acre campus is located on the former grounds of Fort Severn at the confluence of the Severn River and Chesapeake Bay in Anne Arundel County, 33 miles east of Washington, D.C., and 26 miles southeast of Baltimore.

The entire campus, known colloquially as the Yard, is a National Historic Landmark and home to many historic sites, buildings, and monuments.

It replaced Philadelphia Naval Asylum in Philadelphia that had served as the first United States Naval Academy from 1838 to 1845 when the Naval Academy formed in Annapolis.

Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.

Responsibilities:

Organize and direct the Occupational Medicine and Preventive Med program.

Supervise and evaluate Occupational Medicine personnel in the clinic at the medical treatment facility.

Inspect facilities and conducts periodic audit of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) programs for compliance with regulations.

Provide medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment according to standardized medical protocols for occupational and non-occupational illnesses.

Prescribe pharmaceuticals in compliance with DHA privileges for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.

Provide guidance on Occupational Health standards and criteria.

Perform medical assessments with history and physicals.

Provide Occupational Health services and education.

Provide comprehensive care to acute and chronically ill patients.

Order and review x-rays/lab results.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirement for Advance Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner/Occupational Health):

Degree:

A graduate or higher level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program in specialty of the position is required.

This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.

Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Foreign Degree:

A degree from a Foreign Nursing School.

Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

Licensure:

A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.

Licensure:

A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse in the specialty of the position or related specialty from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States

Exemption:

You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before.

Professional Nursing Experience:
