    This opportunity is for the coming school year with an expected start date of August 5th, 2024.

    Certified Teachers initial salary at $65,000*

    Non-Certified Teachers initial salary at $57,500*

    *Certified initial amount includes a $5,000 Bilingual Certification hiring incentive. All initial amounts include a $2,000 STAAR Tested Grade-Level hiring incentive.

    Main Purpose:

    Deliver appropriate learning activities and experiences in the assigned core academic subject area to guide students towards achieving their full potential in intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. Help students acquire competencies and skills necessary for successful integration into society.

    Requirements:

    Educational Qualifications/Certification:

    Bachelor's degree from a recognized university

    Valid Texas teaching certificate with necessary endorsements or training for the assigned subject and level-preferred

    Demonstrated proficiency in the assigned core academic subject area

    Specialized Knowledge/Abilities:

    Understanding of the assigned core academic subject

    Knowledge of curriculum and teaching methodologies

    Capability to effectively teach students and oversee their conduct

    Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

    Experience:

    Previous experience in student teaching or approved internship would be advantageous

    Primary Responsibilities and Tasks:

    Instructional Approaches

    • Develop and execute lesson plans that meet the district's curriculum requirements and show evidence of preparation as mandated. Adapt lessons to accommodate individual student differences.

    • Utilize suitable instructional strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that cater to the learning styles and requirements of the assigned students. Present subject matter in line with guidelines set by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.

    • Assess student learning styles continuously and utilize outcomes to plan teaching activities.

    • Collaborate with special education professionals to adjust curricula for special needs students as per Individual Education Plans (IEP).

    • Work with fellow staff members to establish instructional objectives, goals, and methodologies according to district criteria.

    • Plan and delegate tasks to instructional aides and volunteers, overseeing their completion.

    Student Progress and Development

    • Continuously evaluate student achievement through formal and informal assessments.

    • Take charge of extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved external activities.

    • Serve as a positive role model for students and uphold the school district's mission.

    Classroom Management and Organization

    • Establish a conducive classroom environment that supports learning and aligns with students' physical, social, and emotional development.

    • Manage student behavior in compliance with the Student Code of Conduct and school regulations.

    • Take necessary precautions to ensure student, equipment, materials, and facility safety.

    • Aid in selecting appropriate books, equipment, and instructional resources.

    • Maintain all necessary reports, records, and documents.

    Communication

    • Build and maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

    Professional Development

    • Engage in professional development activities to enhance job-related skills.

    • Adhere to state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom educators.

    • Attend faculty meetings and contribute to staff committees as needed.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Fulfill any other duties assigned by the direct supervisor.

    Supervision Responsibilities:

    Direct the activities of assigned instructional aides.

    Mental/Physical/Environmental Requirements:

    Tools/Equipment Utilized: Personal computer, instructional tools, [P.E. instructors: automated external defibrillator (AED)]

    Posture: Extended standing; frequent kneeling, bending, pushing, and twisting

    Motion: Frequent walking

    Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying; may handle textbooks and classroom materials

    Environment: Indoor work environment with occasional outdoor tasks; exposure to regular noise

    Mental Demands: Maintain composure under pressure; occasional extended work hours
