Nurse (Clinical/oncology) - Houston, United States - US Military Treatment Facilities under DHA
Description
Duties:
- Performing a variety of medical procedures and administering standard and chemotherapy medications, including experimental agents through different routes.
- Managing intravenous fluids and blood products, as well as inserting and caring for various types of medical tubes and catheters.
- Conducting Conscious Sedation procedures, monitoring medical equipment, and providing guidance to other nurses and support staff.
- Collaborating with healthcare team members to ensure optimal care delivery, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and serving as a charge nurse.
- Advocating for patients, assessing their needs, and providing specialized care as required.
- Participating in interdisciplinary rounds and following patient-specific care plans.
- Performing venipunctures for intravenous access and specimen collection.
Requirements:
- A Personnel Security Investigation is mandatory.
- Applicants must consent to seasonal influenza vaccinations or provide an exemption.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Ability to lift moderate to heavy weights.
- Immunization screening and Hepatitis B immunization are compulsory for positions involving direct patient contact.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are essential.
- Proficiency in nonprivileged professional credential requirements.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call hours.

Basic Requirement for Nurse (Clinical/Oncology):
Degree: A graduate or higher level degree from an accredited nursing program.
Licensure: Current, active license as a professional nurse and successful completion of the National Council Licensure Examination.
Foreign Degree: Graduates of foreign nursing schools must have the CGFNS Certification.Exemption: Current federal employees in the 0610 series are exempt from basic requirements with continuous employment since September 27, 2017.
Note: Documentation will be required to verify exempt status.
To qualify for this position, candidates must also meet the following requirements:
Education/Experience: Diploma, associate, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional program with at least one year of professional experience.
