Purpose Statement
- To assist in managing the interdisciplinary computer lab and library computers, as well as assisting in library functioning and performing clerical support to the Tolleson Union High School District in a school library.
Qualifications and Essential Skills
- High school graduate or equivalent GED with basic coursework in business skills.
- Ability to maintain appropriate interpersonal relations with students, parents, and other staff of the District.
- Ability to type/keyboard a minimum of 45 wpm without error.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including computers and copiers.
- Telephone skills and clerical experience.
- Ability to learn circulation, readers' advisory, and library procedures.
- Must pass the district basic skills test with a score of 75% or better.
- Prior experience in an educational setting.
- Such alternatives to the above as the administration finds appropriate.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Distributes various library books and media equipment for the purpose of providing requested classroom materials.
- Inventories library books, equipment, and materials for the purpose of documenting losses and/or maintaining availability of materials.
- Monitors students in library for the purpose of providing for the safety and welfare of students.
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance of media and inlibrary computer equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
- Prepares written documentation and/or reports (e.g. overdue notices, class use, book check, duplicating materials, laminating materials, etc.) for the purpose of tracking library use.
- Processes new library books for the purpose of updating and maintaining collection.
- Processes notices of missing or damaged books for the purpose of securing reimbursement for bookrelated loses.
- Processes orders for library books, periodicals, and other media.
- Repairs books and materials for the purpose of ensuring the availability of books and library materials.
- Perform laptop computers check in/out on daily basis and perform appropriate diagnostics and repair.
- Performs and completes other tasks as assigned.
Working Environment
- The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 34% sitting, 33% walking, and 33% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
