JOB TITLE:
Transportation ? Courier Temporary position possibility of moving to more permanent


ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION:

The mission of Mid-State Health Center is to provide sound primary care to the community, accessible to all regardless of their ability to pay.


GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Courier provides transportation of lab samples, vaccines, mail and other items as needed in a safe, secure, and professional manner.


Duties

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports to Transportation Coordinator


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Load all necessary supplies needed for the daily pickups.
  • Handle all specimens and lab samples in a safe and effective manner.
  • Safely operate vehicle and obey all traffic laws.
  • Utilize handheld electronic device to manage daily pick up.
  • Deliver supplies, equipment and lab specimens including some calls which may be ?stat?. Ensures materials are secured and transported to prevent damage, adjusting schedule to meet time constraints.
  • Adheres to the Mid-State Health Center Transportation Procedure Manual.
  • Maintains professional image to patients, coworkers, and the community as a representative of Mid-State Health Center.
  • Completes daily vehicle pre and post trip inspections and maintains vehicle cleanliness.
  • Assists patients as needed to safely complete transfer.
  • Keeps primary vehicle clean and in good repair. Works with Supervisor to maintain vehicle maintenance schedule and related documentation. Reports and documents items needing repair.
  • Completes and maintains various department and facility logs, forms, and other documentation as needed. Sorts, copies, and distributes department documentation as directed. Completes activity logs, maintenance records and accident documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensures confidentiality of employee, physician, and legal matters; respects and maintains patient rights and confidentiality at all times.
  • Keeps vehicle locked while unattended, never leaves keys in the vehicle. Parks vehicle in high visibility areas and in designated onproperty spaces. Ensures vehicle documents are uptodate and available in vehicle at all times, i.e., safety inspection, registration, insurance, etc.
  • No unauthorized stops.
  • Transports items between all MSHC locations as needed. Including running errands as requested.
  • A clean driving record and a valid driver?s license.
  • Evaluate traffic patterns, alternate routes and weather conditions as needed.
  • Communicates with van schedulers regarding schedule progress and instructions.
  • Back up van driver.
  • Assist with any facility maintenance as directed by your supervisor.
  • Required to drive in inclement weather.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED required.


EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in transportation services preferred.


LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid New Hampshire Driver?s License required with a clean driving record.


KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:


  • Knowledge of transportation procedures.
  • Ability to accurately complete activity logs and vehicle inspection reports.
  • Ability to understand and operate GPS devices and cell phone.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance schedules.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Work may require hand dexterity for office machine operation, stooping, bending, mobility to complete errands or deliveries, or sitting for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds, stepping up and down steps, safely securing patients for transport, and occasionally assists in the transport of patients with wheelchairs on paved and unpaved surfaces. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.


ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and can be interruptive.
