- Solid understanding of PLCs, including Allen Bradley (RSLogix 500/5000) and Beckhoff/Codesys.
- Solid knowledge of HMI and SCADA design, C#/WPF experience a plus.
- Good understanding of electrical CAD design, Autocad preferred.
- Good understanding of servo motion control.
- Experience creating HMI applications from conception to implementation.
- Experience creating PLC logic from conception to implementation.
- Experience creating CAD schematics from conception to implementation.
- Knowledge or experience with IEC languages, specifically Structured text and Ladder Logic
- Knowledge or experience with Version Control Systems, including Git or SVN.

About the Role
Reporting to the Mailing Solutions and Bagging Enterprise Engineering Manager, the Controls Engineer is responsible for controls development on material neutral packaging machinery. Tasks include documenting and implementing system PLC, HMI and Motion Control changes on new machinery and modifying existing systems and machines. The controls engineer provides engineering support for all system users and manufacturing team.
This position may be based in Sussex, WI or Bensenville, IL, with regular presence expected at both sites, travel requirement between sites of 50%.

Special Skills/Abilities Needed
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. 50% - Design, modify, test and troubleshoot new and existing systems including HMI and PLC software and electrical layout and documentation.
2. 25% - Document and develop new applications from the beginning of the development lifecycle through implementation.
3. 20% - Assist internal and external customers with operational support.
4. 5% - Create documentation of existing systems.
5. Performs other job-related duties as assigned subject to reasonable accommodations
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree from a 4-year college or university and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in HMI, PLC, and Motion Control programming. Candidates with experience in CAD and Structured Text are preferred.
