REGIONAL PRINCIPLE METTALURGIST

Ability to Travel (40%+) required for this position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE REGIONAL PRINCIPLE METTALURGIST

  • Respond to customer technical questions quickly and rapidly translate customer needs into solutions, either by recommendation of existing products, addressing any issues with Carpenter products, and nucleating the innovation process to arrive at solutions for unmet needs.
  • Recognizes and communicates trends in customer requirements.
  • Assist customers with their manufacturing challenges.
  • Communicate and document customer needs and issues to technical and manufacturing personnel at mill location(s) involved. Act as technical interface with customer as issues are resolved.
  • Support the commercial team by representing the company's and products' value proposition to customers, with technical support for sales and business development meetings with customers.
  • Maintain alertness for potential new product development opportunities. Recognize and predict future needs for alloy development and contribute to defining requirements and support projects with ongoing field information.
  • Perform audits as scheduled by Quality Systems.
  • Attend and participate in relevant technical/industry society meetings.
  • Live with a safetyfirst mindset, living up to the standard of a zeroinjury workplace regardless of location that work is being conducted.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
**REQUIRED FOR THE
REGIONAL PRINCIPLE METTALURGIST

  • Fouryear college degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field highly preferred. High School diploma required.
  • Minimum of three years' experience as Metallurgist or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing projects and teams.
  • Experience monitoring and controlling costs for own work and projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods, and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of metallurgical and production equipment.
  • Knowledge of the newest and latest technologies available.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Problem solving skills solves a range of problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard procedures.
