RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Solution features from simple (or welldefined) objective/problem statements, including architecture, design, build. Work with a product mindset.
  • Work in SAFe based enterprise scale, iterative development environment: architect, design, prototype (front/backend), launch, repeat.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and manage software products & features.
  • Develop work plans, communicate priorities, and manage deadlines/deliverables with leadership.
  • Build telemetry/monitoring, resilience, and security into the DNA of every product.
  • Create visually stunning frontends with featurerich capabilities in a fastpaced environment.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

About Music & Arts:


The first Music & Arts was located in a small house in Bethesda, MD and run by founder Benjamin O'Brien.

When Music & Arts opened its doors in 1952, we offered printed music, music lessons, dance lessons, and art supplies.

Ben decided shortly after opening his business that he wanted to focus on music to better serve his customers - a decision that remains intact to this day.


Since the 1990's, Music & Arts has expanded nationwide through organic growth and a series of acquisitions and mergers with other music dealers.

In 2005, Music & Arts joined forces with American Music to become the largest band and orchestra instrument retailer in the United States.

Based in Frederick, MD, Music & Arts is now part of the Guitar Center enterprise and comprises 200+ retail stores, 120+ educational representatives, and 300+ affiliate locations.


To join our band you will need the following experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Technology, or equivalent work/industry experience.
  • Experience in managing offshore or remote teams.
  • Working experience with Oracle ATG Commerce / eCommerce Suite / Commerce Tools / Salesforce eCommerce Suites.
  • Experienced with cloud platforms like S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, elastic search etc.
  • Understanding of CI/CD, GIT branching strategies.
  • Experienced using messaging tools like TIBCO, KAFKA etc.
  • Knowledge of design patterns MVC, MVP & other design patterns
  • Working knowledge in database technologies Oracle or MS SQL.
  • The new platform is based on Nodejs, React and JavaScript, NO SQL while the older code bases are monolithic architectures written in HTML, JAVA on Oracle ATG commerce. The older platforms need to be supported as you create new and innovative versions on the new platform migrating all functionality to the new platform.
  • Deep understanding of ecommerce systems (e.g., ATG, Shopify, Magento, Demandware), content management system (e.g., OpenCMS).
  • Hand on experience with HTML5, CSS, jQuery, JavaScript, React, SQL, Microservices, and REST API frameworks.
  • Understanding of OMS and ERP Retail management systems and processes
  • Self-Motivated; willing to take on new opportunities and learn new technologies.
  • Good collaborator with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working experience with agile methodology
